Rules and Conditions of American Legion Post 28 Scholarship
1. Those eligible to apply for the scholarship shall be the child/children of an American Legion Post OK28 member.
2. Must be a high school senior or high school graduate to apply for the scholarship with good academic standing, including a recommendation from a school counselor.
3. The nominee for the scholarship shall submit a written narrative explaining his/her achievements in at least three areas: academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. American Legion Post OK28 Executive Committee will review and evaluate each submission.
4. The American Legion Post 28 Scholarship is for undergraduate study at an accredited institution of higher education, except where the recipient is from a territory of the United States, in which case he/she can select a university or college in that territory or the United States. The recipient must be accepted or enrolled as a full-time student to receive his/her scholarship funds.
5. The scholarship fund shall be used to defray the necessary costs of the student's education (i.e., tuition, room & board, books & supplies, fees, and equipment required by the student's particular course of study or school).
6. The scholarship recipient may reapply for the scholarship annually. The amount of the funds requested cannot exceed the cost of education. In the spreadsheet attached, estimate the cost of education for one year of college. Consult your college's admission office /financial aid office to obtain accurate cost amounts.
7. The Scholarship check will be issued to the selected college in the name of the recipient or payable to the sponsoring post member of the recipient.
8. The sponsoring Post Member applying for the child or children shall be a member of American Legion Post OK28.
9. Financial aid information: Applying members will submit the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) and the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) with Post 28 written request. (Go to www.finaid.org and click on the Financial Aid Application icon to locate the FAFSA application. After submitting your "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA), you will receive a Student Aid Report. The Student Aid Report (SAR) will list your Expected Family Contribution).

I understand and agree that the falsification of information will result in the termination of the American Legion Post 28 Scholarship.
